Different But Equal
Created using Adobe Illustrator
While it is known that the decomposition of complex digital images to pixels is quite straightforward, building an image from the ground up using square pixels in the form of a grid proved to be a challenge. In this project, 4 Pantone colors were extracted from a chosen image to be used in the manual pixelation of the original photograph. After examining the differences between grayscale and colored pixel compositions, creating numerous drafts, and playing around with the idea of dots in place of pixels, my final project turned out to be a stamp that drives home an important message: despite the method in which an image is presented, it remains the same at it’s core- different, but equal.
